James D. Harnden - President
Since Ram Harnden’s founding in 1985, the firm’s
focus has been on the sale and leasing of office, retail,
industrial and investment grade apartments. On behalf of
his clients, Jim has been involved in a full range of transactions including lease renewals, consolidations, relocations,
build-to-suit developments, speculative development lease-ups
and dispositions with a concentration on greater Portland's office market.
 Under Jim’s leadership, Ram Harnden has become an
innovative and trusted commercial real estate firm that puts its strong market knowledge to work for a broad variety of local and national clients. The company is reknown for its annual newsletter which provides the market with timely data and forecasts on absorption, vacancy and rental rates as well as new construction information for the downtown and suburban markets. In addition,
Ram Harnden has developed a unique inventory database for greater
Portland that tracks the availability of Class
A and B office space and higher quality industrial space
along with operating costs, real estate taxes and asking
rates.
Jim is currently Chair of The Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce and serves on the boards of Maine & Company and Piper Shores. He is a past President of the Portland Chamber of Commerce, past Fellow of the Institute for Civic Leadership, past President of Portland’s Downtown District and past Board Member of Intown Portland Exchange, the Maine Real Estate Development Association (MEREDA), Morrison Developmental Center and The Cumberland Club
Jim holds a B.S. from the Whittemore Schol of Business at the University of New Hampshire with a minor in real estate.
